Media conference Wednesday 13th October.

On the 13th October I got the amazing opportunity to meet with people in the media industry, the first talk was about getting to work for the BBC and it was by a man called Phillip Thomas, this talk was very useful as I learnt a lot about how to work for different radio's, Television programs, and movies.
However I found the talk given by a man called Kumar Kamalagharan extremely useful, as he is a touring director and has worked with bands such as Razorlight (Fruit pie production's biggest success story), and Imogen heap. Meeting Mr.Kamalagharan gave me the chance to do industrial research and find out about things that i wouldn't know about if it wasn't for him. Such as the very busy schedule he has to go through, waking up early and going to bed late. That he has to organise the actual tours, employ the crew, organise transport, hotels, things for the musicians, converse with the management of the musicians he's organising the tour for. Make sure that press and promotion is achieved so that the artist sells and that he has to deal with the financial aspects of the tour. I found out that although there are good point to being a tour director such as meeting famous people and making really important decisions, there are also bad points such as working late hours (18/day), there's a lot of pressure involved, you may get unhealthy but you still need to get on with work and this is why most celebrities have dietitians, so that they don't need to stop their jobs.
Mr. Kamalagharan also said that he must (with the help of 60 members of crew) put up the entire stage and this process was very difficult in the early stages of Fruit Pie music (his production). He stated that work experience is important for getting into the business and that dedication and determination are very important personality traits that you must have if you want to be in the business.
Finally he said that although he would like to listen to all the demo's people send him it is more likely for music to reach him by word of mouth of network sites such as my space and face book. unexpected things can happen and he has to deal with them then and their so he has to be quick on his feet and plan for the unexpected and therefore he can deal with the situation at hand.
I was also lucky enough to get a card with his work details and realise that he offers internships which is very useful to me.

Started Filming.

This weekend I started to film, (location research will be posted soon). I filmed part of the 1st and 2nd versus, and uploaded it today on to the macs, however having seen my footage I can clearly say that I will need more to make my music video, have a sense of professionalism.

Audtitions

I had the auditions on Wednesday but no one showed up so decided to have another attempt and changed the date to Monday, unfortunately no one showed up. So I do not have any extras.

On the plus side I have asked a couple of my friends if they wouldn't mind taking part in my music Video, I have also decided that my main artist will be Kate Graves and not Aysia Lawrence although she will still be included in the production. Charater analysis will be added to the blog soon.

My main male protagonist would not act as he was to busy, however I found two better males to be part of the music video, Roberto Besa (the ex boyfriend) and Daniel Hales (the husband).

magazines and fake degree's

I Tried to design some fake degrees to show that her mistake when being a scientist is having a fake degree. i chose the one above as it let me write what i want and looked like an actual degree without the emblebum where as the other one just had a picture which reminded me of a posh house and didn't let me write what I wanted. I also desingned magazine covers by using online magazine markers, The cover features my protagonist make a mistake as a celebratie as she is being arrested. I chose the rockstar as my final cover as the O magazine didn't have the protagoist filling the most of the page and had a lot of blank space, where as the Rockstar magazine had a pop rock theme that looked bright and showed the progonist mug shot clearly. Although the RollingStone magazine let me let me write my own news headlines on the front cover to further illstrate my point, it was to blurry so looked fake and didn't let me show the full mug shot, which is why I decided to use the Rockstar magazine.

music room and auditions.

Today I went to the music office at my school and made a note of all the people in year 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 who took keyboard/ drums/ piano/ guitar lessons, I also found out that I am able to use the music rooms for filming.

I also made a poster for auditions which will hopefully happen wednesday lunch time. and I made a sign up sheet to go with it.

I have also planned to do location reasearch and test shooting on sunday.

Individual group member and cast info.

Today I found out that I now have to work Individually, something I don't mind, but I would have hopped that my group member (Anna) would have told me first before not showing up to the lessons and letting me think that she was still part of the group. However I would always expect her to drop the subject as she never did join our ideas of our summer work together.
my ideas included, the main singer Kate walking down a street and then turning into various characters such as a doctor, pilot, person in the army, however i thought that this would be boring and had a lack of budget and costumes therefore this idea was not possible. however i managed to look at some roads such as new malden high street and east sheen road, however this still didn't give the write teenage feel to make music video as i thought that this would attract more of an over 15 audience rather then 13-18, which is my selected target audience. i also had an idea of her dancing in a class at school, and in a flat but this was also to hard to organise as the school would not allow it, therefor i stuck to the idea of my finished product another reason for this was that Kate didn't have much free time, so i needed to embed other characters into the story line.

On a plus side, I found out that I had 3 cast members that wanted to be in my music video they are Saud Ahmed (drums), Kate Graves (lead singer) and Ayisa Lawrence (guitar). I wanted a teacher called Miss Butler, to be my lead singer, as i thought she looked more the part as she looked quite sporty, however the school wouldn't allow it and her teaching schedule was too busy, but i am glad that Kate is the lead singer, as she does very well in the role and also can act and sing, therefore has the required talent for the music video to be a success. Unfortunately Saud suffered an injury so couldn't be in the music video so i had to, also the other guitarist David, was to busy therefor Aysia took his role, which made the filming easier as she contributed a lot and made the story line more acceptable, as the band are 3 sisters.
