Main Task: Final Song

The list of all the songs were put up 8.30AM this morning, unfortunately we were unable to get any of our top 3. We resorted to our extra backup which was the track "Great Things" by the band Echobelly. Now thinking about it we find that this is probably for the best as it gives us the opportunity to do "great things" with it. For summer homework we have set ourselves a task to design a storyboard compiling of our individual intial ideas, an indivual analysis of the lyrics as well as making a note of cast, costumes and location that we would like to use. We should hopefully join our ideas together in September, and then start to make our actual music video.

Media Studies Advanced Portfolio Main Task

Today we listened to 22 tracks of music to set our main pop video task against. We liked many including most of the female vocals as they gave the opportunity to develop a moral in our video and decided on our top 3, bearing in mind that we had access to the cast, set, costumes and any other aspect of production. Our top 3 are as follows: 1. Aeroplanes 2. Fallen 3. Soon We'll Be Found.

The list will be put up 8.30AM tomorrow morning. Hopefully we will get one of our chosen :)

Third Ancillary Task: Post-Production

After a day of working on the Third Ancillary Task we have grouped into our particular roles and are focusing on putting together all the footage to form one product. Some of the challenges we are facing are the the out-of focus shots and longer shots which we have to cut down to fit the track. Working alongside the original video means we have to work shot for shot perfect which can seem a challenge as it doesn't give individual flexibility to the work. Therefore from this experience we learnt about working in much larger teams and working under extreme pressure to get everything done as it was meant to be. Below is the final class product and documentary that we have produced including some still shots of the day (click on images for a larger view).

Third Ancillary Task: Britney Spears

Today we were introduced to our third preliminary planning task for the Media Studies Portfolio. For this task as a class we must re-create the Britney Spears video, Hit Me Baby One More Time single. We must use what is available to us at school and be able to deconstruct the original video in order to re-puzzle it together as class with ourselves as the cast. We will be doing covering, approximately, over 24 hours of shooting and all have been assigned to roles in this task.

Sequence Editing

Today we edited the footage we shot in relation to our storyboards. While editing we faced some time and frame challenges where what we had planned did differ to the storyboards. Nevertheless through trial and error we created are two sequences. The clips we have created for the research quarter have been uploaded onto the Coombe Media hard drive.

Shooting Footage

Today we shot an hours footage of what we planned earlier in the week for our two visual-audio sequences. We found ourselves shooting extra footage and just some random clips of what we liked and felt work, we knew this would bring changes to our storyboard and that our final piece would not be exactly committed to the storyboard nevertheless we shot some clean footage and were pleased with the outcome.
